Enabling decisions on land use opportunities for Aotearoa
Whakaūngia te whakatau mō ngā ara mahinga whenua i Aotearoa
The data supermarket is open to anyone hungry for information about the ingredients, food and fibre we can grow in New Zealand – now and in the future. The supermarket is free, and is stocked full of datasets that provide a broad understanding of the benefits and consequences of a wide range of land use opportunities.
Our range of datasets is growing all the time. Each dataset includes information about its limitations and how the data was produced, and most include GIS layers. The information can be downloaded for use in third-party tools. Data is open-access and suitable for New Zealand use only.
Kei roto i te hokomaha raraunga ngā mōhiohio mō ngā kai whakauru, mō ngā kai, mō te kaka hoki ka taea te whakatipu i Aotearoa – ināianei, ā muri ake anō hoki. About Us:
The vision for this research is to identify a greater range of suitable land opportunities and a greater diversity of benefits for New Zealand.
A large team of researchers from multiple institutes and scientific disciplines produced these datasets as part of the Land Use Opportunities: Whitiwhiti Ora research programme funded by the Our Land and Water National Science Challenge. The datasets were created between 2020 and 2023, to provide information on social, environmental and economic costs and benefits of a range of land use options. If you have any queries about the data, please contact the named person in each dataset.
