Mean annual suspended sediment yields and net suspended sediment loads modelled using SedNetNZ in the Wairoa catchment

Description

Mean annual suspended sediment yields (t km-2 yr-1) and net suspended sediment loads (t yr-1) modelled using SedNetNZ for all RECv2.4 segments for a baseline and best-efforts mitigation scenario in the Wairoa catchment.

Sediment loads are modelled under contemporary climate and future climate change projections using 6 regional climate change models (RCMs) reported as min, med, and max across 4 representative concentration pathways (RCPs), RCP2.6, RCP4.5, RCP6.0 and RCP8.5.

Fitness for purpose / limitations

This table indicates whether the dataset is suitable for different types of questions at different scales.

Note: Users should carefully consider their purpose as this dataset may not be suitable.

Operational Absolute Relative Screening/scoping
Block/farm Maybe Maybe Maybe Maybe
Multi-farms(5+) Yes Yes Yes Yes
Catchment Yes Yes Yes Yes
National/regional Maybe Maybe Maybe Maybe
Caveat(s) Refer to the two accompanying reports for detailed information on model assumptions and limitations. Key assumptions relate to the representation of erosion processes, climate change projections and their impacts on erosion rates and sediment loads, as well as the effectiveness of the erosion mitigations represented in the best-efforts scenario.
